ASSA ABLOY UK Specification Returns to EcoBuild to Talk Sustainability and BIM

ASSA ABLOY UK Specification, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, is returning to EcoBuild to showcase its capability in sustainable design and deliver a keynote speech on BIM at the Digital Building Theatre curated by NBS.

The leading exhibition for the UK construction and energy market, ASSA ABLOY UK Specification will be on stand E5160 at this year’s show, whilst BIM Manager Andy Stolworthy will give an overview of the company’s BIM journey to date, as part of a practical demonstration for manufacturers at the Digital Building Theatre at 1.30pm on the 8th March in conjunction with NBS.

This year’s theme of ‘Design, Construct, Perform’ will be reflected on the UK Specification stand, which will represent its journey to offering bespoke consultancy services, as well as its design-led specification capabilities.

The team will be on stand to discuss ASSA ABLOY’s approach to BIM including its experience, as well as its work to deliver specifications that take into account the access and flow of a building, providing architects and designers with the data required to produce sustainable design-led buildings and substantiated whole life costings.

David Wigglesworth, Managing Director of ASSA ABLOY UK Specification, said: “Since launching ASSA ABLOY Specification in the UK, we have worked on several prestigious projects, including Birmingham Dental Hospital, Cheltenham Racecourse and The Olympic Park. Despite the high profile locations, the most pleasing aspect of working on these projects has been applying our design-led approach and working closely with the architects. This has helped to ensure the doorset and access solutions we were specifying offered the optimum sustainability and enabled the building to be built as designed and with the original intent at the heart of it.

“The progress we have made this year in creating our BIM capability and using this knowledge to assist architects and designers to fulfil whole life costing and sustainability criteria has been one of the team’s greatest achievements.

“EcoBuild is a great forum for showcasing these examples of innovation in the design, construction and performance of access, flow and doorset specification.”

EcoBuild is taking place from 8th to 10th March 2016, at Excel London.
