ASSA ABLOY UK Attend BIM Level 3 and Beyond

ASSA ABLOY UK Specification, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions will be attending the landmark BIM event, BIM Level 3 and Beyond – Moving Forward After Level 2.

The event to be held at the Renold Building, University of Manchester on 29th June, has been created to look at the step up to BIM Level 3 and the challenges that the journey will face. The UK Specification team will be joining in the debate along with fellow professionals on formulating and understanding what lies beyond BIM Level 2.

Visitors to the show will be amongst the first to see ASSA ABLOY’s Openings Studio™ platform, which is due to be rolled out later this year. The online door and ironmongery scheduling platform is the first of its kind and a vital part of any BIM toolkit in achieving BIM Level 3 ambitions.

Using shared information from a BIM model, the platform analyses and interprets the data for door and ironmongery scheduling.  Once the specifier is satisfied with the information provided by ASSA ABLOY’s expert scheduling team they are then able to import that data back into the model. The innovative online tool has been created to take the burden out of scheduling doorsets, using a familiar format that architects can work with.

Andy Stolworthy, BIM Manager for ASSA ABLOY UK Specification, who has spoke at numerous BIM events and conferences, will be on stand to not only discuss ASSA ABLOY’s approach to BIM as a manufacturer but also its adoption within the industry and future role.

Speaking about the event, Andy said: “The focus of BIM has, for many, been around meeting the government deadline and ensuring adoption in the design and build phase of a project. But the journey toward BIM Level 3 will raise more challenging questions, questions that must be addressed to meet with industry targets.

“BIM Level 3 and Beyond will provide a great forum for debating some of these concerns and obstacles that we, as an industry, face in the delivery of BIM L3. As an early adopter of BIM, we look forward to discussing the future role it will play with like-minded professionals.”

ASSA ABLOY UK Specification will be on stand 12.
