Security hardware from Trimec, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a division of ASSA ABLOY UK, has been used to secure an award-winning housing development.

Woodberry Park is the new development rising from the site of the Woodberry Down estate as part of the £1 billion regeneration project being delivered by Berkeley Homes plc in partnership with Hackney Council, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Genesis Housing Group, Manor House Development Trust and the local community.

The development, which has recently been awarded National Demonstration status for the Development of Mixed Sustainable Communities by the CLG Department of Central Government, has been fitted with 18 V-locks from Trimec, as well as nine ARC-51 N door closers from Adams Rite.

Requiring PAS24 and Secure By Design compliance, the door sets developed by Elite Aluminium Systems Ltd, were tested, along with the V-locks, at ASSA ABLOY’s testing laboratory in Willenhall. Meeting the required standards, the testing success helped by Trimec’s V-locks enabled Elite Aluminium Systems Ltd to secure this lucrative contract.

Featuring the world’s first fail-open motor locking mechanism, which eliminates the need for an additional key override, the V-lock or ES8000, is ideal for residential applications, where residents would need to be able to exit and access the building in the event of a powercut. The ARC-51 N overhead concealed door closer and heavy duty springless pivot, was fitted on main access door sets to enable controlled closing, ensuring the safety of residents and improving the building’s thermal efficiency.

Mark Longmore, General Manager for Elite Aluminium Systems Ltd, said:

“PAS24 and therefore Secure By Design compliance are becoming an integral part of any building specification. It was therefore crucial that our door sets were able to achieve this”. Not only were ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions able to supply fit for purpose security hardware that could withstand the rigorous testing demands, but its experience and knowledge of testing and standards, meant it was able to advise throughout the specification process and supply approved testing facilities.

“Working with an experienced security solutions provider, meant we were able to secure the contract and deliver door sets in line with PAS24 and Secure By Design requirements, on budget and on time.”

Russell Richards, Regional Sales Manager for ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, added:

“We’re very pleased to have supplied products for such a prestigious and important development. It is testament to Elite Aluminium Systems Ltd proven record in supplying for high profile projects that they secured this lucrative contract.

“By incorporating both the Trimec V-lock and Adams Rite door closer into its door sets, Elite is ensuring that the future residents at Woodberry are protected from unwanted intruders, whilst providing ease of access for authorised occupants. Plus, both products are designed to help meet the standards required for PAS24 and Secure By Design accreditation.

“PAS24 and Secure By Design are becoming crucial standards within the industry and we are continually working on developing testing methods and products to enable system houses and fabricators to meet with the latest requirements, including EN1627, which is currently in the final testing stages.”
