ASSA customers strike it lucky with new security solutions

ASSA, part of ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, a division of ASSA ABLOY, has introduced a new range of Euro Profile Electric Strikes, completing its extensive product portfolio.

Compatible with ASSA’s D450 Euro lock cases, the new range features four types of electric strikes, each adding electronic functionality to the popular locking solution range. This is the first time ASSA has offered Euro Profile electric strikes to the market, thus providing improved accessibility.

They are ideal for use in office spaces, as well as retail and leisure facilities, where restricted access is required, for example in staff-only or storage areas. The 517E Euro Profile electric strike uses Direct Current, and is duty continuous fail-locked, remaining open when current is applied, locking when turned off, so ideally suited to areas of high level security.

The electric strike features a microswitch to monitor the latch bolt engagement, which can report to the building alarm system or access control system, enabling more efficient building management. It is also available without the microswitch, as the 17E model, which dependently relies upon the security requirements.

The 537A Euro profile electric strike, conversely, will open automatically when the current is off; Direct Current, duty continuous, fail-unlocked electric strike, ideal for applications where emergency exit may be necessary, such as offices blocks or shopping centres, and also features the added facility of the micro switch to monitor the latch bolt.

The 37A model is a more cost-effective alternative if the micro switch is not required.

Lorna Ardern, Product Manger for ASSA, said:

“The new Euro Profile Electric Strikes offer an easy update for buildings currently relying on mechanical locking. While mechanical locks offer equal security, electric locking systems offer the additional flexibility of controlled and monitored access. Plus, they can be easily integrated into existing access control systems.

“We’ve filled a gap in our product offering, creating a total-specification solution for our customers – this can help to save them time and money during the product specification process.”

ASSA’s electric strikes can be used on left or right-swinging doors, as part of a new and complete door set, or as a retrofit for mechanical components. Manufactured using high-grade steel and tested to one million operations, the new electric strikes are supplied with either short or long faceplates for added flexibility.

ASSA-branded products can be accessed through the UK operating company, ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions.
