Double fire door passes with flying colours

Powershield has successfully tested another double fire door.

Tested through Warrington Fire Research to BS EN 1634-1 2008, the stainless-steel double door reached a time of 1 hour 55 minutes. Leaf dimensions were 1419mm w x 2473mm h, each leaf incorporating vision panels of 200mm w x 1500mm h. Floor springs were integrated into the door composition which was also latchless and non-rebated. The test achieved a time of 2 hrs 30 minutes without windows.

The Powershield Fire doors are being manufactured for installation on the London Underground at King's Cross Station.

Plans are underway to turn restore the existing Grade 1 listed station to its former glory, including the original 1951 façade, ticket hall and main train-shed roof.

Over 47 million passengers use the station every year.
