ASSA KEYsafe improves key control at the University of Dundee

ASSA ABLOY Door Solutions was recently called in to help improve key control systems at the University of Dundee. Ronnie Paterson, Security Advisor to the University’s Maintenance Department, takes up the story.

“The problem we had was being able to track the keys accurately. We needed to know exactly who had which keys and where they were” Ronnie explained. “That’s where the ASSA KEYsafe Nova came in.

Ronnie is delighted with how it has helped him and his team: “All of our maintenance team have access to any building they are allocated in an easy to manage system. We now know who has the keys, when they took them and when they are due back” says Ronnie.

The university is delighted with the flexible security ASSA KEYsafe Nova has been able to provide. “We have created various levels of security” explains Ronnie. “For example the Domestic Services Team can only gain access to cleaning stores and sluice rooms, whereas the Vehicle Manager can lock all car and van keys away every night although, in an emergency, each individual can access their own vehicle.

The ASSA KEYsafe has also had a positive impact on Ronnie’s work load. “The ASSA KEYsafe has freed up many man hours for myself and enabled me to concentrate more on the job I am employed to do as opposed to running back to the old key store to sign keys in and out” says a delighted Ronnie. “KEYsafe Nova has greatly added to the security and safety of the University of Dundee.”
