Chris Simmons


Chris Simmons joined the Yale Business Unit as an undergraduate in June 2012, working as a Sales and Marketing Assistant. Having completed the twelve month undergraduate placement, Chris returned to University to complete his final year in BSc Business and Management from which he graduated with a 1st Class (Hons) degree. Chris said his undergraduate placement was a ‘huge learning curve’ as it was his first exposure to how business operates and appreciated the opportunity to merge theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

Having completed his final year, Chris returned to ASSA ABLOY on the EMEA Graduate Scheme. He worked as a Territory Manager for the first part of his programme, covering the Home Counties region, and more recently was seconded to South Africa for three months. Chris worked on new business development within the Yale SA unit, leading projects to explore and develop new business opportunities. Chris enjoyed the challenges of working in a foreign business environment and adapting his working style to accommodate the local culture.

Chris has also attended various internal training programmes which have served to both add value as an employee and develop his personal and professional skills. Having been through the performance development process during his time in South Africa, Chris found this useful to direct his focus on specific organisational and personal goals.  In addition, Chris is currently being mentored by a Director which he finds extremely beneficial as he is able to learn from his experience, share ideas and work towards a set of personal KPIs.
