Decorative Hardware Program Manager

Summary Description:

The ASSA ABLOY Architectural Hardware Group Decorative Hardware Program Manager is responsible for product planning, program design and rollout and coordination with business unit product managers from Accessories, Door Controls and the Access & Egress Hardware Group brands as well as Industrial Design.

The Decorative Hardware Program Manager's job includes ensuring that the company's decorative product lines support the company's overall strategy and goals.  Close cross-functional team collaboration with product management, marketing, sales and engineering is required.  This person will assist in developing each brand's decorative product road map, marketing strategy, and positioning.  This role will lead cross-enterprise and customer specific programs that include the rollout of new decorative finishes and large-scale channel initiatives. The Decorative Hardware Program Manager will shape new and meaningful hardware & security experiences, as well as have a high affinity & appreciation of commercial interiors and the built environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

New Product Development

  • Product line analyses, Voice of Customer research, project management through the stage gate process.

  • Assisting brand and product mangers with strategy and roadmapping in line with ASSA ABLOY strategy of innovation and market leadership within decorative accessories and hardware categories.

  • Gather insights, provoke new ideas & evaluate product concepts through the design process while recognizing the influences from architects, interior designers, manufacturing, sales & marketing. Identify trends in commercial interiors and curate current and future offerings.

 

Program Management

  • Ability to scope projects, build timelines and lead a cross-functional NPD team through the entire product development or program design and rollout process. 

  • Manage a product program for a large customer from ideation thru launch (e.g. custom decorative door hardware trim and accessory design and development).

  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications Manager to implement marketing strategies for new and existing products, services and programs.

  • Work with Door Security Solutions sales and Architectural Specifications teams to expand sales of ASSA ABLOY decorative hardware solutions in specific vertical market segments and distribution channels through targeted programs, promotions and marketing campaigns.

 

Business Analysis

  • Conduct market trends analysis regarding competitive activity & threats, business climate and potential company opportunities.

  • Market research and competitive analysis - ability to build expert understanding of competitive deco product offerings and maintain a detailed competitive product comparison including features and pricing.

  • Work with Product Managers on analysis of sales volumes and profitability by territory and product line. 

  • Collaborate with AADCG Price Management and Product Management to enact appropriate pricing actions in order to maximize market share and profitability.

Educational Requirements, Skills and Abilities:

  1. BA/BS degree in Marketing or Product Management

  2. 5 - 7 years B2B product management or large scale project/program management experience

  3. Background in the sourcing or development of decorative decor products and/or experience interacting with architects and interior designers a plus. 

  4. Excellent project management and analytical skills

  5. Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  6. Strong attention to detail

  7. Ability to influence and work through cross-functional teams without formal authority.

  8. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and influence at all levels of an organization

  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).  Proficiency in Microsoft Project is a plus.

  10. Up to 15% travel to customers, channel partners, suppliers, other ASSA ABLOY offices
